The Amy Purdy Mobility Foundation empowers freedom of movement and possibility so people with physical disabilities can work, play, and live on their own terms. We provide grants that fund wheelchairs, prosthetics, and other essential adaptive equipment that’s otherwise out of reach.

“I’ve been able to achieve all that I have because of the immense amount of support I’ve received along the way. My mission is to pay that support forward and help others live their best life through the power of movement, independence and possibility.”

OUR MISSION

Unlocking Possibility Through Mobility

Each year, we award a limited number of grants to individuals whose story aligns with our mission of fostering independence and possibility. Applicants demonstrate a need for mobility equipment to support their continued independence, resilience, and movement beyond limits.

Demand far outpaces what we’re able to fund, so every application is reviewed carefully, and only a select few are chosen.

That means someone is always waiting.

GIVE THE GIFT OF MOBILITY

Right now, someone is sitting at home wondering if they’ll ever get back to the life they love.

This isn’t just about supporting a cause, it’s about joining a community of people who believe mobility equals possibility. Every donation connects you to real people whose lives you’re about to change.

When you give, you’re not just funding equipment. You’re backing dreamers, fighters, and go-getters who refuse to let anything hold them back. You’re saying “your goals matter” to someone who needs to hear it.

HOW YOUR DONATION CHANGES A LIFE

One wheelchair helps a parent get back in the game with their kids.

One prosthetic foot gets someone back to work; back to independence.

One running blade gets someone active and healthy so they can step into the world the best version of themselves.

One adaptive device is a dream back on track.

THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS INDIVIDUALS
WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES IN TWO WAYS:

MOBILITY EQUIPMENT

We Fund Freedom: Wheelchairs, prosthetics, adaptive equipment – whatever it takes to get you moving when insurance says no.

We Build Independence: The best gift we can give anyone is the ability to move through life on their own terms.

ADAPTIVE ATHLETE SUPPORT

We Break Down Barriers: Financial obstacles shouldn’t determine who gets to live fully. Period.

We Fuel Dreams: Your goals matter, whether that’s getting back to work, playing with your kids, or competing in your sport.

Grant Applicants: Due to our limited capacity, we cannot accommodate all requests. We’re working hard to create more opportunities.  While our application process is currently closed, please sign up and we’ll notify you when more grant opportunities become available.

A STORY THAT BECAME A MISSION

From one dream to a foundation for thousands

1999

Amy loses both legs at 19

When Amy Purdy lost both legs at the age of 19, she had one burning desire: to get back on her snowboard. What she discovered broke her heart. There were few resources for people like her who refused to let disability define what was possible.

2005

Adaptive Action Sports

In 2005, Amy and her husband Daniel started Adaptive Action Sports, Their organization pioneered adaptive competitions at the X-Games and helped pave the way to  Snowboarding being included in the Paralympic Games, but something bigger was happening along the way.

As Amy traveled and shared her story, she kept meeting people whose challenges went far beyond sports

Parents who needed wheelchairs to chase their kids around the playground. Workers who had the skills but not the equipment to keep their jobs. People who wanted to move, to contribute, to live fully, but couldn’t afford the mobility equipment they needed.

The Reminder
In 2019, after a severe leg injury left her unable to walk comfortably for several years, Amy was reminded firsthand of the profound impact mobility has on independence, freedom, and quality of life. This experience became the genesis of the Amy Purdy Mobility Foundation.

Today

The Amy Purdy Mobility Foundation

What began as a personal mission is now a foundation with a simple mission: provide grants for people nationwide that will help them access the equipment they need to work, play, and live independently.
